NREX couriers are self-employed. To start driving with us, you'll need to meet a few simple requirements — most people are ready to roll within a week of applying.

Common courier questions

How much can I earn as an NREX courier?
Earnings depend on your round, vehicle, and how efficiently you deliver. On average, NREX couriers have the opportunity to earn between £15 and £18 per hour, based on a competitive rate per parcel. The more parcels you deliver and the better you know your route, the more you can earn — you will see a clear pay-per-parcel and round bonus breakdown before accepting any round.
Am I employed or self-employed?
NREX couriers are self-employed. You'll have a UTR number and submit a simple self-assessment each year — we'll help you set this up if you're new to it. Being self-employed means you choose your hours and can claim expenses against tax.
Do I need my own van?
Yes — most rounds require a van or large car. We have rounds suitable for small cars, vans, and long-wheelbase vans. If you don't have one yet, your depot manager can point you to trusted vehicle finance partners.
What insurance do I need?
You'll need "hire and reward" insurance — standard for couriers and different from regular car insurance. We work with trusted brokers who offer competitive courier-specific cover, often with monthly payment options.
How are payments made?
Your first week's pay lands in your bank in week 3 — that's just 2 weeks in hand, not 6 like other carriers. After that, you'll be paid every Friday via BACS to your nominated account. You'll see an end-of-day breakdown for every shift in the courier app, plus a weekly statement.
Is there training before I start?
Yes — every new courier gets app training, a depot induction, and a guided first round with an experienced driver or supervisor. Most people feel fully comfortable within their first 2–3 days.
Can I take time off?
Absolutely. You're self-employed, so you pick the days you work. Just give your depot reasonable notice so we can cover your round, and you can pause whenever you need to.
